Ballet Beautiful Results Case Study – Week 2

January 7, 2014 by Tawny Bailey 4 Comments

Hi Ladies!

So it’s been 2 weeks since I started my Ballet Body case study. Today I’m gonna talk about week 2 – I’ve been doing the workout 3 times a week…so I will share with you how my last three Ballet Beautiful Total Body workouts went.

Workouts 4 and 5

Workouts 4 and 5 were pretty uneventful. However, I did notice a significant difference in my ability to recruit/activate the proper muscles. The burning seemed a little more intense, and the soreness after workout 4 was very deep.

I also noticed some soreness in a couple of new places – the sides of my glutes (the gluteus medius) you know, where dancers have that nice indentation. Yeah, I noticed significant soreness in that area, which is something I have never experienced from a barre DVD.

Workout 6

Now for me, workout 6 seemed to be somewhat of a milestone.

Almost immediately after beginning the workout, I noticed extreme burning in the target muscles. I know I said in the beginning that the burning was intense in workouts 1 and 2 – and I honestly thought it couldn’t get any worse. But this was 10 times worse, much deeper and fire hot.

Another thing I noticed was that I actually started to get out of breath and a little sweaty. It’s funny because throughout the whole video, Mary Helen keeps saying, “Okay, just take a moment to catch your breath,” and “Grab a sip of water”, and I would kinda chuckle to myself like, “yeah right…what does she think this is, a marathon or something?”

Well, let me tell you, I have been humbled. I did need to catch my breath and regroup a couple of times, and I was indeed breathless and sweating. Good stuff.

Perhaps the most exciting thing is that I have started to see results. My muscle tone is a lot more defined and noticeable already, and its only workout 6!

I’m SO looking forward to the next few workouts. I have been doing the Ballet Beautiful Total Body Workout 3 times a week so far, and I have plans to move up to 4 times per week as soon as I am ready.

Stay tuned!

Hi, Tawny, I love your blog! Over the past few months, I’ve been slowly moving away from traditional weight lifting, and have pretty much given it up for Ballet Beautiful and yoga. I do BB 3 times a week as well, with yoga 2 days a week, and 1 day off. I was curious to know what kind of workouts you do during your days off from BB, and if you think that is adding to your results?

Thanks so much Neha! And thank you so much for visiting :o)

As of right now, I don’t do anything on my days off since I just started the Ballet Beautiful results case study. I wanted to do ONLY the Ballet Body Total Body workout three times a week, for a few weeks before I added anything else in…just to see how effective the workout really is by itself. I have been blown away by the tightness and sculpting I am getting from just the BB alone. It’s a VERY powerful workout on its own.

That said, I just ordered the Essentrics Strength & Stretch workout DVDand I think I may add that on alternate days. Stretching is very important for getting a toned, sculpted look…so I know it will only add to my results. I will of course, be writing a review of those DVDs as well as soon as I begin doing them.

I think Yoga will be a nice complement to your workouts as well. How long have you been doing BB? Have you gotten good results?

I’m curious…(if you don’t mind my asking) why did you begin moving away from traditional weightlifting?

That’s good to know! I started BB a couple weeks before the holidays, and I felt like I was getting good results. I was feeling the same deep burn that you were in places I didn’t know I had muscles. It took me a few tries, like you, to access the proper muscles to work. I kind of fell of the wagon for the past couple weeks over the holidays, and I just restarted a couple days ago. We’ll see how it goes!

I don’t have any health reasons for not lifting weights any more. I don’t have chronic pain or anything, but I realized I just don’t really enjoy it, and also felt like I was getting bulky. I’m pretty short so any type of gain is noticeable. I realized I never looked forward to lifting weights, but I really looked forward to my yoga class once a week. I think life is too short to spend that much time doing something you don’t really enjoy. I’m enjoying BB a lot so far, so it’s definitely something I can stick with long-term.

I look forward to your future posts on BB and to compare results!

Yeah, I kinda fell of the wagon this week…only got two workouts in instead of three. But those two were great! Yeah, I’m short too (5’3) so I tend to get a bulkier look that I do not like. You’re right, life is much too short to spend slaving away at some exercise you hate 🙂

I broke down and bought the Ballet Beautiful Cardio Fat Burn and the Ballet Beautiful Sculpt & Burn Cardio Blast because I really like the short cardio blast she does at the end of the Total Body workout, it really gets my heart pumping but it so short. So I will definitely be posting updates soon!
