Physique 57 Review

February 4, 2013 by Tawny Bailey 2 Comments

P57 Volume 1Hi Everyone!

Today I have a Physique 57 review for you!

I know that Physique 57 is not exactly Pilates, but I happen to know that  many women who like Pilates love these…plus they give insane results ;).

I Heart Physique 57

These are my *favorite* barre workouts….and I own quite a few. There’s really nothing else like them. The music is good, the instructor is a goofball, and the time just flies by. I would actually call these workouts “fun” (gasp!).

When I was doing them consistently, I actually looked forward to working out, which is pretty much unheard of.

But I think the best part about Physique 57 is that these workouts deliver some seriously awesome results. I lost my pregnancy weight CRAZY fast after I had my baby boy…dropped my 30 pounds of baby weight without a problem doing Physique 57  just 3 times a week. I guess that’s why they are my favorite DVDs ;).

Why These Workouts Work So Well

I have heard people say that these workouts are “magic” because they work so well.

But the *secret* behind the Physique 57 workouts is that they use something they call “Interval Overload”.

Here is a quote directly from their website:

“Physique 57’s interval sets use your body’s own weight as resistance, and through dynamic exercises, your muscles are targeted and overloaded to the point of fatigue, then stretched for relief. We call this groundbreaking process Interval Overload which includes muscle-defining arm exercises, intense thigh and seat sequences, waist-chiseling ab moves and fluid stretches.”

Interval training, in case you are not familiar with it, is when you alternate periods of high intensity exercise with periods of lower intensity exercise. As a result, your heart rate constantly goes up and down.

Interval Training = Superior Fat Burning

Personally, I HATE doing cardio.

Jogging (or any other repetitive cardio for that matter) is just mind-numbingly boring to me.

That’s what I really love about these workouts.

Because of the Interval Overload, there is no need to do extra cardio on alternate days. These workouts are intense enough on their own to make you lose weight all by themselves. In fact, the interval overload makes them MORE effective than plain old cardio. Perfect for us “cardio haters”.

These workouts are so much fun that I actually looked forward to doing them, which I believe is what helped me get such good results.

I always say that you absolutely MUST enjoy your workouts to some extent, otherwise you just won’t do them. And if you don’t do them, well, you won’t lose any weight ;).

Here is a video review of a woman who loves Physique 57. I feel the exact same way she does about this workout, LOL.

People Will Notice Your Weight Loss

As I said, I started doing this workout a month or so after I had my son in May 2011. I had gained 30 pounds during my pregnancy, but within about 3-4 weeks of doing Physique 57 , I was back down to my pre-pregnancy size.

I wasn’t paying much attention to the pounds I lost because I don’t have a scale in my house, plus my inch loss was so noticeable I didn’t care how much I weighed.

My abs got really toned and my pants kept getting looser and looser, until all of my pre-pregnancy clothes eventually ended up being too big…which is where I am now.

The inch loss I got with Physique 57 was pretty dramatic. My mom kept making comments and asking me what I was doing.

To be honest, I really wasn’t trying that hard. I was basically just watching what I ate and doing these workouts.

In Conclusion…

Love, Love, Love this workout!

If you want something effective and probably more challenging than anything you have ever done, give Physique 57 a try. I don’t think you will regret it…unless of course you are a wimp ;).

      Hi Rebecca-

I don’t know a whole lot about plantar fascitis, but it seems that constantly being on the balls of your feet may not be the best idea. Have you looked into Classical Stretch or Essentrics ?
